SUN SHADOWS

When designing buildings is is often a requirement of local authorities to request shadow diagrams. Particularly with multi story developments or town planning. SoftPlan allows you to set the time, date and location (Latitude and Longitude) for any where in the world, then produce sun shadow diagrams / images and animation files.

Another method to display the effects of shadows cast by the proposed development is to position the 3D shadow image on the site plan. This produces a to scale accurate shadow diagram including the position of neighboring properties.

Animation
Apart from pleasing councils with overshadowing regulations, shadow information can be used to design better buildings, with the use of animation. Animation of the suns shadows can be produced for a full day or a full year, these sun studies can be used to view the effects of building orientation, opening sizes and roof overhang etc. Animations could also be used as a sales tool for that special job where clients demand it.

Full Day Study - The full day study generates the cells at a given interval, every 10 minutes for example, from sun up to sun down.
